car crash

http://hjnews.townnews.com/articles/2009/10/20/news/news03-10-20-09.txt

Two things about this article

1. Be the Jeep. Jeep vs sedan= Jeep wins. My husband drives a Jeep (with over 200,000 miles on it) and when it dies I'm going to remember this equation.

2. The girl driving the Jeep is one of Dave's students. Please say a prayer for her. This was an accident, but I'm sure it will still be really hard for her. She's a good girl!

Our neighbor across the street was in a similar collision (where the other driver was killed) this summer on Valley View Highway. He was in a big Ford pickup and the same equation crossed my brain.
Stanton also drives a Jeep and it's a comfort to me. Our philosophy when our kids are old enough to drive (like that will ever happen, right?) is to put them in the biggest vehicle possible. Ford LTD, Old Cadillac, old Ford pickup, Jeep, etc.

He's had a lot of support and is doing well, but I know the trauma of being responsible (even though his was an accident, too) for the death of another person has been difficult for him. He's born testimony of the power of the atonement since then and it is quite moving -- one of those circumstances where you see it in a tangible way.
He was driving home to open his mission call and is still hoping to be able to go out in December.
How is Dave's student doing? I hope she's physically okay.

My heart is broken for that husband that lost his wife and child. My sister lost her husband and child in her car accident. It was no ones fault really but I always think about the man that hit them in his 2-ton truck. He probably thinks of it everyday. I know I do. Sometimes you wonder why people have to die so young!? I do feel sorry for the girl that hit them. I wish as young children they realized how important little decisions are. They can affect your life FOREVER!!

I had to get on here and tell you that (weirdly) one of the passengers in this crash that you blogged about is my neighbor (lives next door to the boy I talked about in my first comment). She and I had a long chat about the accident on Thursday. She's still pretty shaken up. She mentioned that the husband was cited at the hospital -- basically that he was at fault for the accident and got a ticket for it. That part made me really sad... I just can't imagine being "responsible" for that kind of accident. My heart aches for them.
Jaz seems to be doing okay (okay) physically, but she's pretty shaken up still. I can only imagine how her friend is doing.

Thanks Julie for telling me that! I feel very bad for the husband. They had a blog and my sister-in-law knows the wife and directed me to it. Her very last blog entry was, "It's a girl." So sad.
