The Birthday Blog

This blog has turned into a birthday blog. Don't worry though, it will be fairly birthday free the rest of the year. Yesterday was Dave's birthday, and here is his cake that I made him.
It looks like an ordinary cake, but really, it has 4 layers on the inside each filled with cool-whip. It doesn't sound that exciting, but it really tastes good! It's Dave's favorite cake that his Mom made growing up, so I thought I would surprise him by making it myself!

It was a nice day, Isaac, Dawson, and I surprised him at work with a pizza and a milkshake. My present for him was the new Rocky Balboa DVD. His Mom gave him some new work shirts and some tennis balls. My Mom gave both of us a $50 Cafe Sabor gift certificate which we can't wait to use! Happy 34th Birthday Dave!
Isaac wasn't sure he wanted Daddy to have a birthday without him, but he went along with it in the end. Here he is helping Dad blow out the candles.

Landscaping

We spent the weekend doing our dreaded chore.... Landscaping! We are not really physical labor people, so we think hauling around dirt, raking, and weeding are hard work! But we finally got the front all covered in dirt, and about half planted. Here are 2 pictures, and I'm sure they won't really impress you, but it was a lot of work to get to this point. Hopefully in a couple of years it will all fill in and look a little more beautiful. Plus we do need to plant some more perennials. Oh how pathetic we are!

This bench needs to be refinished, but one thing at a time right? The little tree to the side of the bench is my rose tree, isn't it cute?

Dr. Appointments

Just a little info post. We had Dawson's 9 month and Isaac's 3 year appointments on the same day. Here are their stats:
Dawson-
20 lb. 9 oz. 50%
29.5 inches 90%

Isaac-
30 lbs 30%
40.5 inches 97%

Holy Cow our boys are super tall! We're still wondering where they get it from. After the measuring, the Dr. came in to check them out and asess their development. This had Dave and I holding our breath! We wanted these boys to perform! Dawson did great, he clapped and waved bye-bye when asked to. We were very proud. Then the Dr. started asking Isaac questions about colors and counting, and even had him draw. Isaac did well except he couldn't draw an "X". You can bet we'll be working on that one! ;) Luckily he counted properly (he usually does, but sometimes he just starts skipping around- 11, 7, 4, 18) and he got the colors right too. Then we "Wow"ed the Dr. with his knowledge of letters. After all that we finally let out a sigh of relief that our children passed the test. Phew!

The third birthday!

Isaac had his third birthday this weekend. It was very exciting! We had a wonderful celebration of the March/April birthdays in the Biada family namely-Me, Dave, Isaac, Mom, and Dad. But mostly it was for Isaac. Grandma bought him the most beautiful Thomas the Train cake and he got some really great presents. And cool Aunt Aimee- the good gift giver- gave him the Backyardigans Bathtub pirate ship. He could not wait to take a bath so he could try it out. We also had a great Easter Egg hunt, and we all enjoyed eating the candy afterwards. It was a very fun day!

Today we had our Easter dinner at Grandma and Grandpa Low's house. Isaac had another birthday party there along with his cousin Joshua who shares the same birthday. Here is a picture of him with his second cake.
