All time favorite picture

Did I post this picture in my last blog post? Yes. Do I think it deserves it's own post? Yes. Do I think you should click on this picture to enlarge it so you can really get an idea of how hilarious it is? Yes. Do I laugh out loud every time I click on this picture and enlarge it? Yes. Could this possibly be my all time favorite picture? Yes, definitely.

The highlights of this picture in a bulleted list:

  • the drool dripping down his chin and onto his shirt
  • his gummy, crooked baby teeth, kinda gross, huge smile
  • his scrunched up nose
  • his one eye closed more than the other giving a look of deformation
  • the bruise and the pink scar on his head proving that he's a one year old
  • the fact that he is so pleased at having stolen his brother's glasses and lightsaber
  • the wristband from swimming that he wore for almost a week and was very sad when I removed
  • the fact that my floor is clean in the background which never seems to be the case in my photography

Have you ever heard the phrase "A face only a mother could love?" I think this picture qualifies.

Jluy

I was having a hard time coming up with a fun title for this blog, and I decided to just call it July. The misspell was an accident, but I decided to keep it to keep things interesting. Or maybe to kep thigns inerstign.

I have been so ridiculously busy. My summers always are crazy. Here are some random details and pictures of the month of July and some of June.

The silliest boy I know. Always doing something that will make you laugh.

Dawson had his third birthday with a Buzz Lightyear BTS cake. It was GOOD!

Brooke brought the pinata with lots of candy for the kids.

Henry generally eats his candy through the wrappers

They were nice enough to throw a huge fireworks show for Dawson's birthday. He was very pleased, but I think he fell asleep. Henry loved every second of it, and turned around after every firework to say, "WoW!" and make sure Dave saw each one. I though G. wasn't going to like them since he is easily startled, but he loved them too. Here he is in the stroller.

Our neighborhood had a carnival at the end of June, it was fantastic. I bought these cute matching monkey outfits for all four boys at Gymboree and I dress the boys in it every time we are going somewhere with a lot of people. It makes it so easy to find them.

Isaac got his face painted

Here is proof that I am still alive.

We got to spend some time with our nephew James. Can you tell which one he is? You might not be able to tell if it weren't for the fact that my son is such a spazz. I couldn't get him to look at the camera without saying cheese. James and Henry are a few months apart, and almost the same size. (James is younger and bigger) Zach calls them "identical cousins" and they practically are. I sometimes see pictures of James and think it's Henry. They look so much alike, and have a lot of the same mannerisms too. It's just that James is much more normal than Henry.

Seriously, could he look any more ridiculous than this picture. He was SOOOOO pleased with himself in those glasses.

Isaac and Dawson got a hold of my camera and had a little photo shoot. It was so funny, they were telling each other how to post for the camera. "No bend your arm like this, and then use the force... BEND YOUR KNEES, no bend it like THIS!" Can you tell who took this picture? It was the only one he took without a finger in front of it.

You can see the bent arm and the force in this one.

We are finishing the basement, traveling, did EFY, and raising 4 tiny boys, and life has never been crazier. But the good thing is we are having fun doing it. I just don't have much time to blog. **Sigh.**

We went to Disneyland

Yeah, it was in April, but better late than never. For spring break we went to St. George and we told the kids that we were going home. Instead, we went to Disneyland. They were so surprised, and it was nice that they didn't know about it and couldn't bug us asking, "How much longer until Disneyland?" I think it was the world's cheapest trip to Disneyland, and it was awesome. We left Henry with Jesse and Brooke and took Isaac, Dawson, and G. Jesse. G. was the perfect traveling baby. He would sleep in his stroller while we waited in line and wake up when we picked him up for the rides. Dawson was pretty scared of the rides at first, but by the end he was a lot better. We had a great family trip, and I wanted to make sure I finally documented that it did exist.

Lovin' the Pixar parade!

Dawson kind of freaked out about the life sized Buzz lightyear.

The "L" for Low

Dawson loved the calm, cool Jungle Ride

The best Disneyland baby. Who got a TON of attention because he was still really tiny. He was only 4 or 5 weeks. He just slept like this most of the time.

Isaac and Daws meeting Buzz. Notice who's behind who

My Disneyland boys. I love them!

3 people missing after mudslide hits Logan neighborhood

http://www.ksl.com/?nid=148&sid=7125186

That is so sad! This is actually where G. Jesse was born, now it's covered in mud! We actually drove this road this morning about 3 hours before the collapse. And the fire chief in the clip is our neighbor. Those poor people!

3 years ago yesterday I enjoyed a lovely lunch at Cafe Sabor when the all-you-can-eat chips and salsa started giving me contractions. So naturally I kept pigging out on them until lunch was over. A few hours later I had a contraction and felt really weird. 5 minutes later the same thing happened. Isaac and Dave were sleeping, so I drove myself to the hospital. I swore Dave to secrecy, and promised I would be to the BBQ on time. I talked to Carrie as I walked into the hospital and didn't tell her a thing. Why? I wasn't really sure why I was at the hospital. Contractions never meant anything in the past, so I didn't see why they would now. An hour later I was pronounced 5 cm and NOT LEAVING. It was very hard to believe that I was having this baby 4 weeks early.

So Isaac went to the fireworks with his grandparents, and I gave birth at 2 minutes to midnight with curled hair, full makeup, and not a bead of sweat on my brow. A flawless, pain-free delivery. I can't believe that was only 3 years ago. I've had 2 kids since then, that seems crazy (Oh yeah, it IS). It's funny, when I mentioned to people that it was 3 years ago that I went into labor, they seemed surprised. Even though we had spent the day celebrating his birthday. I guess the two events don't seem connected to people.

Dawson's third birthday was great. Brooke brought over the Banzai water slide which I regretfully didn't take any pictures of. But this is kind of what it looks like. It was SO fun for the kids, I think I'm going to have to buy one now.

Brooke also brought a pinata (Yeah, she is an extremely generous person, whom I adore!) So the kids got to hit a pinata and get the candy. The kids ate pizza and drank Koolaid, and the adults drank pina colada. (mmmm) The July birthday thing sure is fun. Hopefully all the fun birthdays make up for that ruined summer I had when I couldn't do anything with a brand new baby and a post-partum body. :)

We told Dawson that we would have a fireworks show for his birthday. So we went up to the University and watched a long fireworks show which actually put him to sleep. G. Jesse surprisingly loved it, and Henry (who seems to find joy in pretty much everything in life) had to turn around and say "Whoa!" after every firework to make sure that Dave was seeing the same thing that he was. I don't know if anyone enjoyed the fireworks more than Henry in the whole valley! I tried to video tape it, but it was too dark. I'm going to post pictures of it all later, my camera is in the car that Dave just took to get milk. :)

Lastly, G. Jesse had a well-child appt yesterday and they gave him flag band-aids for his shots. Very cute. He was 11 pounds, which put him in the 5%, and less than 5% for height. The doctor decided to adjust it a month because of his prematurity, which put him at the 25% for both. But just in case he told us to hit it hard with the solids and give at least one bottle a day. Tiny little munchkin. He looks kind of like a grasshopper to me, with long skinny legs and big, buggy eyes. Silly boy.
