He smiled at me

Today I took off Bubba's bandaids from his shots. Normally I procrastinate that as long as possible, but they accidentally gave him girl bandaids and I felt bad for him. So in order for him to not wear Barbie bandaids one second longer, I decided to rip them off as quickly as possible. I expected him to scream for a second, but instead, HE SMILED AT ME! What kind of child smiles when they get bandaids ripped off their skin? Sweet Henry.

Great Day!

Today was a great day. Two great things happened today. First of all we had Henry's 4 month appointment (He actually was 4 months old yesterday). It was so nice to tell the doctor I had no questions or problems. He is happy, he eats well, he sleeps well, and he is in perfect health all the time. RSV season is almost over, and it looks like we made it safely through the winter without anything more than a few days of runny noses! I can't bring myself to stay home when I have a baby, I'm at church the very next Sunday and with Henry I was at the Aggie game 5 days later. *blush*. So we have been very blessed to have such a healthy, happy baby even though we don't shelter him from the disease ridden world.

Henry's stats:
Height: 50% (I thought he would be taller than that)
Weight: 25%
Head Size: 10% (Unheard of in our family, we have BIG heads in our family)

Henry was smiling and cooing at the nurses, and his feelings were very hurt when they pricked him with 3 needles. But he recovered very quickly, what a champ!

The second great thing of the day happened after I put the kids to bed. Tonight I weighed myself before I got in the bath and.....................................
I'm finally back to my prepregnancy weight! I have to enjoy these few months of feeling good, because before I know it I'll be pregnant and fat again. And to make it all even better, I'm wearing my sister-in-laws hand-me-down jeans (which must be mismarked, because I know deep down inside that I'm not that size). Not that my prepregnancy weight is that awesome, but at least I know that I'm no worse off than I was before I got pregnant.

Sweet Baby!

This baby is hands down the sweetest baby ever born. He is so happy and sweet all the time. He sleeps through the night, and smiles at everyone he sees. We love having Bubba!

Recent Photos

Bubba has been "self pacifying" lately. It's so funny, he sucks that lower lip right in and it looks hilarious! My little sis calls this age the "little old man" stage because babies are bald and have no teeth. This makes him look even more like a little old man.

One thing I love about digital pictures is that you can take an unlimited number without "wasting" film. I love the progression you can see in pictures. Here Dawson and Isaac were laying together drinkin' chocolate milk.

Then Dawson saw that I had the camera, and wanted to be front and center!
P.S. I do put pants on Dawson in the morning.... they just don't stay on all day!

IQ chocolate test

Dave came home from work yesterday with some kind of IQ test for 4 year olds. So if any of you have a 4 year old in your life, try it out just for fun. I don't know if I have the details exactly right, but here is the basic idea. You put them in a room and give them a bowl with a treat in it (marshmallow, cookie, candy, whatever), and then you show them a bowl with 10 of those treats in it. Explain to the child that you will be back in 5 minutes with the bowl of 10 treats. Tell them that if they don't eat the 1 treat, they can have the 10 treats in five minutes. When you come back in five minutes, if they haven't eaten the 1 treat, then it is a great sign of intelligence.

Of course, my nearly 4 year old passed it! This test obviously is flawed in some ways because things like patience and sugar addiction play a part in it. But it's still fun to try it out! (Unless your child fails, then it's a stupid, stupid test!)

Snowed in

Does this look normal to you?

Today I drove Isaac to school and was thrilled to see my driveway. Unfortunately, when I went to pick him up 2.5 hours later I could no longer see my driveway, in fact there was several inches of snow. Luckily, we have a snowblower. I enjoyed learning how to use the snowblower, and cleared our driveway, and both our next door neighbors. This did not happen without my hair getting totally covered in snow. So naturally I placed the camera on the kitchen table, squatted, and took this incredible picture of myself, looking like I had no torso. What a great self-portrait. Why did I squat? I think I was worried I was too tall for this picture. Ha! When was the last time I was too tall for anything?

Girl's Day Out

Today Caroline and I had a girls day out. Okay, not even out, but we had a girls day. I was tending Carrie's kids and Dawson and Cara were fighting, so I was trying to figure out what to do to distract them. We decided to do girly stuff while the boys played. So we did her hair and painted her nails. Unfortunately Dawson wanted his nails painted too. He is quite a vain child, he enjoys doing his hair, cutting his nails, and even putting on lotions. But he eventually understood that it was a girl thing, so let it go.

I love doing the fun stuff with other people's girls, and then sending them home. I much prefer my boys hair on a daily basis. But I do love makeovers, so send your girls over to my house every once in awhile.

Pretty Caroline!

Boo

My conversation with Dawson:
Me: Where's Dada?
Daws: Dada

Me: Where's Mama?
Daws: Mama

Me: Where's Isaac?
Daws: Eye-ack

Me: Where's Bubba?
Daws: Bubba

Me: Where's Dawson?
Daws: Boo

*My thoughts: Why is he calling himself boo?*

Me: Where's Dawson?
Daws: Boo
I finally got it!
